JohnCon?
Damn that peergroup pressure!
Okay so at this point, barring unforseen circumstances, I will be organising a convention next year at the Emerald Hotel sometime around September. The Con hasn't got a real name yet but it has a theme, Apocalypse When? which will be covering this "lost" field of writing and film, the post apocalypse pieces. We'll cover things like the Gen X assumption that we'd never hit adulthood, because someone would do something stupid and destroy civilisation. We'll cover movies like the Mad Max series. We'll cover early works in the Genre like Bradburys "The Silver Locusts" and Asimovs "Pebble in the Sky". We'll cover more recent works such as "Metal Fatigue" by Sean Williams. (The book that actually got me thinking about it all again). We'll cover loads of stuff. I'll even try and sneak in a viewing of "Wild Boys" by Duran Duran! (It's a post apocalypse video clip with visuals based on the short story by William S Burroughs, believe it or not!)
However, if anyone can come up with a neat name for the con, feel free to post it in the message board area (please?)
Why the sudden change? Well lets just say I got lots of feedback in the last few weeks supporting the idea, as well as lots of volunteers...
Cheshire Noir - The Adventures of One Dark Kitten.
A blog to relieve frustrations, stresses and other Angst (tm) Oh and to rant. Rant quite a bit in fact. Okay, a lot.
