Twilight of Democracy
Hey folks,
Still not well, and dosed to the eyeballs on caffiene and aspirin. Time for more off kilter ranting.
So, as a response to myself, (and letting the more paranoid side of myself play for a bit), here is how the republicans take power, suspend democracy and establish a theocracy in continental US of A.
A radical element within the Christian Fundamentalist wing of the Republican party finds a stooge/patsy with an ethnic look about them. They break out their "Catcher in the Rye" system (like they have in the past so effectively against the Kennedys and ML King.)
This time, however, they have a bigger target. The election is now weeks away when their "lone nut" goes into action. He hijacks an international flight bound for Europe on takeoff, using a broken bottle (from his "Duty Free" of course) as a weapon. He crashes it into the whitehouse, killing the President, all the while claiming to be a member of Al Queida. An emergency is declared and the elections are posponed. To deal with the threat, the Senate grants previously unimaginable powers to the (ex vice) President Cheney.
President Cheney immediately enacts a state of emergency. A national biometric ID system is rolled out to much fanfare. Individual rights are much weakened. Unions are broken up to aid the "War Effort" to run smoothly.
We are now only minutes away from a complete Facist state.
A Nerve Gas attack occurs against the Senate, extinguishing many lives across both parties. Tanks are rolled onto the heads of all the major freeways. An emergency election now happens. Diebold machines are used "In the name of speeding up the return to Democracy in this troubled times". Of course it's a sweeping victory for the extreme right wing of the Republican party. There is no paper trail to refute the claims.
The Free Press is supressed in the name of "Keeping morale high in this time of crisis". This is much easier to do now that there are only 4 players in the field. Any agitation or dissention is viciously suppressed. A new "Police Army" is formed from "volunteers" with the right moral and racial background to help enforce the New World Order.

Yes! Then they'll have to suppress the minorities so that proper homogeneity is established and abberant (abhorent?) beliefs and practices are removed from society.
The suppressed are interred in camps... until one day, the very scarey one in the end block (smart one which the scientists were playing with) makes the camp go boom and walks out into the night.
Years later, a man with a theatrical mask appears on the scene...
