Sydney: Day 2

Okay, I have barely survived another day in Sydney. Got up late today (Gotta love that 3 hour difference) and had a brekfast. Calli and I decided to have a stroll through Hyde Park. 5 1/2 hours later we returned, sunburned but happy to our room.

Firstly, we walked through Hyde Park. We got to see the local War Memorial, done in a beautiful post Neuveau, Pre Deco style. The park was full of "classical" statues and a couple of drunk uni students who had decicied that "classical" was their preffered dress style and had stripped down to graduation gowns and nothing more.

We went on to the Domain. We completely failed to catch the shell I wanted to show Calli. I think we had missed the part of the Domain we wanted to see.

SO we went on to the Botanic Gardens. Calli was more awake than me and spotted most of the cooler things there...

We saw:
  • Golden Orb Spiders

  • 3000 Fruit Bats

  • 2 Lizards basking in the sun

  • Hot Rod Birds (Don't Ask)

  • Enough Ibis to cull

  • 2 frogs that loked like bird poop and 1 that looked like white gold (all in the same plant)

  • A "Lost" firn tree. Belied extinct for over a million years until 1996

  • Electric blue dragon flies, as well as ruby red ones

  • Pitcher Plants

So that was cool.

We continued down to the Opera house and gawped at the big coathanger...

Twas cool.

Dinner was with friends. It seemed to involve a wanky waiter and far, far too much red wine...
