Here are some neat toys that you may have some strange uses for. Ultimarc (shortened from Ultimate Arcade) have pretty much cornered the arcade emulator input market. Many other companies use their supplied components rather than scratch develop their own. The fact that having an Ultimarc I-PAC board in your product is a selling point gives some idea on how much they have succeeded in design and marketing.
Coolest products? Probably either the ArcadeVGA or the J-PAC. ArcadeVGA is a scratch developed videocard designed to work at resolutions compatible with arcade monitors, allowing all those "classic" arcade cabinets to be used with an emulator, without having to worry about hacking your OS to drive the video at "non standard" (at least for PC hardware) frequencies.
J-PAC is a cute little interface designed to allow you to interface directly with an existing arcade cabinet via the reasonably standard JAMMA interface inside an arcade cabinet. One end is VGA input and a USB cable, the other end plugs straight in to the arcade machine.
These devices are complimentary, and would allow a dedicated enthusiast with access to a standard JAMMA compatible arcade cabinet to have themselves a MAME arcade cabinet with minimum of fuss, and better yet, with almost no knowledge of electronics.
So. Anyone want me to build them an arcade setup?
